A friend of mine had taken the Salkantay Trek earlier this year and had stated that is was one of the highlights of his travels, which was no small feat as he just finished traveling the world for 11 consecutive months. The trek was incredible and the service was as more than I could have hoped for. The vast change in climates combined with the great guidance of Joel and Roy's delicious food made for a nearly perfect five days. While the trek was rather difficult, it is far from impossible and the views along the way make every step worth it. I cannot compare the services of Salkantay.Org to other companies as I have not taken a trek with them, but I see this experience as one that would be quite difficult to beat.

The Salkantay trek was a unforgettable experience. This was my first hike of more than one day, and it went very smoothly. Although some parts are challenging, it was very rewarding when we finished. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the Incan history and botanicals along the trek to make our daily hikes that much more interesting. The thing that surprised me the most is how delicious the food was! We ate like kings the entire hike, complements to our chefs. I'm not sure how other months compare, but in August we hike through many different climates. Make sure to bring very warm clothes as well as clothes for a hot summer day. I would recommend this hike to anyone who is looking for more challenging, more scenic alternative to the Incan trail!

Salkantay Trek was an amazing experience! It went above and beyond anything I ever expected. We hiked through many different climates that ranged from rugged mountain to jungle trekking. All of it was so beautiful. Our guide was very friendly, knowledgeable, and great to be around. The food was amazing! It was some of the best food I had in Peru. This is a great trek for anyone looking for an adventure through Peru. To end the trail we went to Machu Picchu for the day, which is really a Wonder of the World. It was a spectacular place. Salkantay is the way to go.
