Chat on WhatsAppThe Inka Trail was fabulous! I've never hiked before, and it was at exactly the level to challenge me as much as possible without going over the limit. Having a tent ready and waiting, and hot food prepared for us, made the entire experience an adventure like in a book or movie - no unpleasantness! The guides were courteous, witty and knowledgeable; the porters just about superhuman in their ability to fly past us with their giant packs no matter the gradient.
The scenery was magical. Not even the rain and fog could slow us down. Having the sun come up and burn away the cloud to reveal the mountains and forests all around was a special kind of experience. Everybody that comes on the hike has interesting stories and backgrounds to share, and the camaraderie in the tent after dinner was at least as much fun as the days walking together. I can't imagine a better way of getting to know new friends than sharing this experience with them.
