This trip was the second part of our 6 week trip in Peru and Ecuador. It was fabulous and so varied.
The four day trip included climbing to a glacier and gorgeous lake of greens and blues, hiking through forests and jungles, visiting villages and ancient ruins and spending a couple of hours relaxing in hot springs.
Two events will stay with me forever. First, the offering that we made to Mountain Salkantay in honor of the mountain and also so that the mountain would protect our family and loved ones. The story is that part of us also stays with the mountain. This is something that you have to experience to appreciate the power and beauty of it all.
The second is the last day of the trek where you walk on the Inka Trail and have spectacular views of Machu Pacchu. You visit ruins and walk on lovely trails with butterflies dancing around you.
Inca Trail Reservations did a great job organizing the trip, including organizing accommodations in Cusco and Agua Calientes and meeting with us the night before the trip. Our guide was excellent and friendly. The cook and his assistant provided tasty and varied food items each day.
Our favorites were the soups, avocado and quinoa dishes. the horseman was also curteous and took care of our luggage. All in all a fantastic trip!!!.
