I can officially say I hiked and survived the Inca Trail thanks to Inca Trail Reservations . I hiked 49Km, 13,776 feet in four days. Since college my dream was to hike Machu Picchu and see the beauty I´ve only seen in photos. We contacted Ruth from Inca Trail Reservations and she was helpful at answering all of our questions and promptly got back to us, she also had great English! We arrived to Cusco and stayed at Stay with Us Hostal right above the office. This was very convenient due to us meeting here the day before our hike for briefing and any extra questions we had, all we had to do was walk downstairs.

The hike itself was breathtaking. Beauty surrounded me every direction I looked. It´s something I would recommend to anyone to see for themselves. Pack light but pack smart. Have around 2 short sleeve shirts, 2 pants, rain jacket, 2 long sleeve shirts, 3 socks, and hiking shirt. We went at the beginning of June and experienced; sun, rain, snow, hail and fog. We were hot one moment and cold then next. The food the porters prepared was amazing! The soup and coca tea were perfect on cold days! The porters amazed me as they had 5 times the amount of us and literally ran up the mountain.

Day 2 was the hardest mentally and physically. Once you get past day 2 the rest is smooth sailing. Another thing I would recommend is research how the company treats porters. I saw other companies porters be part of the hikers´ team and they had appropriate equipment for the hike. Also make sure your guide speaks great English, our guide spoke mainly Spanish and little English.

Overall I loved my experience and thank God for giving me the opportunity to see Machu Picchu the correct way!
