It was an absolutely mind-blowing day. We started off in Cusco early in the morning; the 1.5 hour train ride through a very rural town was very memorable, especially with special open windows on the ceiling.

To begin with, the morning train to Aguas Calientes with see-through windows on the ceiling allowed us to enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way to Aguas Calientes. My daughter and I were a little worried about the weather but contrary to our expectations, a bit of rain and fog made the scenery going up to Machu Picchu absolutely gorgeous.
