The Inca Trail followed by a visit to Machu Picchu is an unforgettable experience and definitely a must-do whilst visiting Peru!

Physically and mentally challenging, there are high and low points throughout, but the high points definitely make it all worth it - although it is certainly not for the faint-hearted! The brief beforehand allows you to see what the next few days will be like so that you are aware of what lies ahead.

Joined by a variety of nationalities, a helpful, fun, and informative tour guide and eight amazing porters we set out from Cusco to follow an ancient trail which promised us interesting historical facts and stunning scenery. My personal highlight would be the camping as our tiring days of trekking were followed by fantastically prepared meals, cups of coca tea and card games before going to sleep in a tent surrounded by clouds - only to be awoken in the morning by a porter with a fresh cup of tea waiting for you! Be sure to bring warm clothes for the evenings as the temperature drops quite drastically in comparison to the warm, sunny days that we experienced.

I would definitely recommend Inca Trail Reservations to anyone as not only was the tour guide consistently great throughout the trip but also the porters (who carried 20kg on their backs whilst practically running the trail) were always on hand to help out and had a continual smile on their faces.
