After having climbed Mt. Whitney at the age of 68, I thought it was 'now or never' at the age of 74 to conquer the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
The first two days went well. On the third day, the big boulders did not want to be conquered. One of the guides, Marco, came to my rescue. He stayed by my side until we arrived at the campsite in the dark. The others hikers in our group were all incredibly friendly and very encouraging.
I was greeted with applause upon arriving at the site. There was plenty of food, almost always there were left overs, but not so with the water. Now my grand children will have a crazy adventure story about their grandma.
