What an amazing trip! Amazing guides and all. I did the four day trip starting with a bus ride from cusco that took two hours.
The bus ride alone was quite enjoyable. Comfy and excellent views as we drove deeper into the Andes. Day one was excellent starting with a really cool cable bridge over a roaring whitewater river. Hiked through the lower lands that resemble a high desert with an easier walk. Had an amazing walk to an even better lunch.
I was blown away by the authentic food that all the porters hauled in. We camped that night by a river at about 9,000 ft. Got good rest and a good dinner for getting ready for the next day which is the hardest.
Day two felt like climbing 1000 stairs in the desert. Very rewarding but challenging with a large pack. We reached 13,000 ft and then went down more stairs to our camp spot. Best sleep ever.
Day 3 was my favorite hike of all. Jungle hiking and reaching some peaks of spines with breathtaking views. Take lots of pictures! Go to bed early that night because day four starts at 3 30 in the morning. Reach Machu by about 8.
Our guides did such an amazing job with the tour and the whole trip. I would recommend to anyone with a since of adventure.
