Where to begin? From the beginning, we knew we were in for an incredible adventure. The size of our group made for an intimate and enjoyable experience. At our first breakfast we got to know one another and tried to mentally prepare for the trek. As the trek continued we were able to build and share a great experience with one another.
We were met with a great challenge and an even better guide. Eloy was a fantastic. He shared the sacred history of the Salkantay trek and the great Incan traditions that carry on to the day. From the top of Salkantay, the jungles of the Andes mountains and to Machu Picchu he was our always positive and fearless leader. And truly quite a pleasure to walk with.
As well. We should also give a HUGE thanks to our horseman, Walter (Pocho), and our cook, Cármen. They worked so incredibly hard and without their efforts we'd probably still be somewhere up on that mountain. Lost, looking for a laugh from Walter's jokes; and hungry for some of Cármen's delicious food.
An-yay Salkantay!
