I started the hike with mixed feeling. Wasn't sure if the hike would be watered down for the mass tourists or an intense hike to weed out the beginners. I was pleasantly surprised to find the trip was a physical challenge for a seasoned hiker and backpacker, but with conveniences that allowed me enjoy the views and experience. Other than the amazing Inca sites and great guiding. My guide taught me a great trick if you get stuck behind slower hikers. Yell "porter" and people will clear the path.
Don't try this ever time, because the porters do an amazing job carrying 27 kg in sandals. My greatest respect to the work they do.
