The first two days of the Salkantay Trail were the hardest and I walked slowly because of the change in altitude.
However, the whole group did very well. The scenery was breathtaking and Paul, our guide, was full of interesting stories and information about Peru, the flora and fauna and the people. His passion for Machu Picchu was as amazing as the ancient Inka city itself. Finally reaching the streets of the magical city was the perfect ending to this unbelievable five day journey.
The food was wonderful and diverse and highly appreciated after the long hikes.
I also appreciated that Willy, the other guide, waited for the slower people and always had a smile on his face. Overall, this was an incredible experience and I would do it all over again!.
