The trip met and exceeded all expectations. The guides, Alfredo and Jesus, were extremely friendly and well informed. They were eager to attend to any of our questions or concerns and were great motivators. The porters were friendly and exceptionally helpful. The Chef, Grenaldo, was incredible. Lunches and dinners had between 3 and 4 courses. The dishes had more complexity than you would think possible given the conditions and comparable to what you would get in a restaurant in Cusco. In a group of 6, there were two birthdays for participants. The guides and porters were informed on the day of each birthday shortly before supper and the Chef and his crew managed to put together birthday cakes each evening using little more than a propane stove.
The hike itself is amazing and I would encourage anyone who is physically able to undertake. The team from Inca Trail Reservations added to the experience and I would similarly encourage anyone inclined to undertake the trek to do so with Inca Trail Reservations.
