Everyone told me this would be a trip of a lifetime. It was. Words cannot describe what the Inca Trail contains. The sights along the whole trail are breathtaking. The culture that the locals have is inspiring. Machu Picchu is the goal but the hike is the most memorable.
I was told this hike would be hard and because I'm very active I thought it was an understatement. I was wrong. It was challenging. Pack light and I highly recommend a porter. The food was delicious. It exceeded my expectations. Our guide was Manuel. He was great. Kept us on the perfect schedule. We were rarely on a crowded path and never got too hungry before a meal was provided.
I read other reviews about the trail and honestly they scared me. After the first day it was obvious the weren't with the company Inca Trail Reservations .
