My experience on the Inca Trail was everything I could have asked for and more. I admit that I was nervous about the 4 day long hike. I have never done anything as adventurous as this before and wondered if I would even be able to make it. While it was very challenging, I enjoyed it very much thanks to Inca Trail Reservations . The company took the time to answer all of my questions regarding what to bring before I left and was very professional.
Our guide, Richard, was fantastic. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the many ruins we stopped at along the way. I find it amazing he does this four times a month.
Originally I was going to carry all my own stuff but at the last minute I decided to pay for a half porter. I am very glad I did. The price was reasonable and it made the hike more enjoyable not having to carry as much weight. If I had to do it again, I would pay for a full porter because it gets tiring walking uphill with a large backpack, especially at high altitude.
Perhaps one of the best parts of the journey was the food. Everyday we awoke to a hot cup of cocoa tea and breakfast. After a few hours of trekking we would arrive to a delicious lunch and ended the day with a meal that would rival many restaurants in Cusco.
Overall this was the hardest but most memorable vacation I have ever been on. I would recommend Inca Trail Reservations to anyone considering doing the 4 day trek to Machu Picchu.
