King of the mountains

I've just come back from an epic 4 day adventure on the Inca Trail . My parents had done the trek 25 years ago and really struggled, so I was a little apprehensive going into it. However I thoroughly enjoyed the walking and loved going at a fast pace.

Reaching the summit on day 2 was a particular highlight. The guide, Carlos, managed to transmit a real sense of the Inca civilization along the way. Upon reaching Machu Picchu it felt like such a reward after a long few days and it really was as special as expected.

The job the porters do is really astonishing, managing to cook, clear, clean and run on very little sleep is commendable. Will definitely recommended to friends.
