This may sound strange, but one of my favorite parts of the Inca Trail was the hike up to Dead Woman's Pass.
It was challenging, but the feeling of invigoration and satisfaction at the end was unforgettable. Plus, the view was gorgeous and everyone was cheering each other on the whole time. And a couple of porters invited me to finish the hike to the top with them, which was awesome.
Once our group arrived to base camp at the end of day two, one of our group members immediately lay down on the tarp and said "look, I'm dead woman's pass!" That was a joke we had whenever one of us was exhausted for the rest of the trek.
We had a great time!
