I really enjoyed my four days on the Inca Trail . The trek really built up my understanding of the Inca empire, particularly showing the constant spiritual aspects implicit in Inca life. Not only would I not have picked up on any of this during the walk, but it allowed me to appreciate Machu Picchu in a way I don\’t think I could have without the trek. Our tour guide took a level of care to make sure that we understood all of this which I didn\’t see any other guides give to their clients, not just telling us simple facts, but making us appreciate the significance of everything we saw, and at times really feel it.
