Our group had a fantastic guide, Carlos, who was there to help us through all of the ups and the downs (literally and figuratively). He was extremely knowledgeable and helped the group learn all about the significance of the places we visited. This knowledge helped us respect the history that was all around us. On top of it all, the porters and cook on our trek were outstanding. All of them were extremely hard working and their effort attributed to our group having a great experience.
The trail was definitely challenging but I am super glad that I did it. My primary recommendation for someone considering the trek would be to spend a few days in Cusco prior to starting. I for one experienced some challenges with the altitude. Other than that I had zero complaints. Inca Trail Reservations exceeded all of my expectations.
