Physically challenging but amazing

The experience was amazing. I initially thought the trek was a great idea but never thought we would actually go through with it. Once we booked I thought it was a great excuse to exercise and get fit but this never happened, so I went into the trek very worried.

In the lead up to the trip, the communication was a little sporadic (but as we found out the main point of contact Alberto was actually on trek as well !). Also having to use Western Union to pay for the tour was a little foreign for us but we were rest assured through constant contact.

I'm not going to lie, the trek was physically and mentally demanding but with the support of the group, The amazing guides and the amazingly strong porters that carried everything, I got through. It felt like such a great experience and achievement and a great way to see not just this amazing site but many sites as well as the Inca's journey. So much better than just doing a quick trip to the main site.

Don't expect 5 star, but eating in a tent, no showers, etc. are all a part of the experience. Food was great and even though it rained each day I didn't feel cold in my sleeping bag. Highly recommend hiring a porter to make life much easier on yourself as well as walking poles.
