The Salkantay experience was a very positive one. The hiking was tough, walking almost 50 - 60 km over four days. But it would have been tougher if we had to carry our tents as well as cooking supplies. All these were carried by horses and all we had to carry were our personal items. The food was great! We had tea time every day with snacks.
The guides (Carlos and Marco) were very friendly and enthusiastic. They were always available and explained things in a easy way. One thing I would recommend is to bring hiking poles. I didn't bring any but had to borrow one hiking pole from my sister on day three since the downhill hike put a lot of stress on my knees.
Overall I would recommend this experience for all those who love hiking and enjoy nature.
