Starting out the trek, I went in with no expectations. Juan Carlos picked us up from the hotel, and from the beginning, we were all in a great mood, joking around and laughing. I slept for most of the bus ride so I can't comment on that. Starting in Challacancha, I was a bit apprehensive, not knowing whether or not I was in good enough shape to make it. Luckily, I was able to make it up without too much trouble. I had a great time talking with the guide, as well as the other members of the group.

Once we made it to the campgrounds, I felt an incredible energy from the mountains and the surrounding scenery. Even though we couldn't make it to the lagoon, I wasn't upset, since I got to experience snow, and make a poncho out of a trash bag. That night, we had two amazing meals. I wasn't expecting so much amazing food !!

The rest of the trip was just as amazing as the first day. I was able to push myself harder than I thought I could. Once at the top, I definitely felt the spirit of Salkantay . Throughout the rest of the trek, I made constant offerings and thanks to the spirit of the mountain, of the jungles, and of the Incas and those that came before me. They helped guide me through the trek. I had an amazing time, thank you so much for the experience. Thank you so much to the guides, the cooks, the horsemen and anyone else involved in helping make this trek a success. I will definitely be back !
