The Salkantay Trek was more than I could have imagined! The website had a picture of a snow covered mountain, but I didn't expect to swim in the lake at its feet where the glaciers melt.
Nor did I expect a three course meal three times a day on a wilderness hike from our chef Simon, complete with an entire cake for breakfast on the last day. Our guide Lucho was more like our friend, teaching us about his country's flowers, history and food along the way, to name just a few things. I much preferred the intimate setting we had, just my wife and I and one other couple, to the larger groups we shared the trails with.
Having Valerio along to help carry extra belongings, and all the tents and equipment that made what would have been an impossible journey a luxurious pampering instead. We can't thank them enough and want to return as soon as possible!
