Team "Sexy Baby Llamas" for the win! Had a great time, with a chill group of people and a very knowledgeable guide (Eloy Quispe Ccorahua). I´d definitely recommend Eloy.
I´ve hiked all over the world and this is definitely one of the most organized hikes I´ve been on. From tent setup to food to transportation coordination, the entire Salkantay Trek was smoothly run and executed. The food was great! The two cooks were incredible. Having a multiple course meal after a hard day of hiking was definitely one of the best things about this trip.
Dont fool yourself - this is a hard hike, even if you are in shape. Day 2 is probably the hardest day. But going from frigid mountaintops to jungles to walking through streambeds is quite beautiful, and at the end, you definitely feel like you earned your way to Machu Picchu. I´d highly recommend. Also, being in a small group was great -- we all bonded along the way. Go team Sexy Baby Llamas!
PS go see the llamas.
