Chat on WhatsAppI will recommend the Salkantay Trek to anyone interested in traveling to Peru and Machu Picchu. The service was great and everyone in our group had a blast. I was able to rent a warm sleeping bag and the company provided us with comfortable mats and dry, warm tents. They were quick to help arrange flights and other tours in the area, and our transportation from one place to another along the way was convenient and comfortable. Our guide for the trek, Herbert, was fun and charismatic, always stopping to explain the sites along the way. Our two cooks went above and beyond to prepare delicious meals, set up camp and make us feel comfortable. Every morning they woke us up with a piping hot cup of coca tea, followed by a delicious, filling breakfast, including strawberry pancakes and omelets. Our crew never seemed to stop for a break. Unlike others we saw along the trail, our horseman kept our belongings dry despite the occasional rain.
Each time we made it to our lunch or camp spot there were snacks and warm drinks waiting for us. The trek itself was truly amazing, taking us from breathtaking snow-covered mountain passes down through thick jungle terrain. I don´t think I could have asked for a more challenging and rewarding experience getting to Machu Picchu, a place that is hard to describe in words. The last five days will be something I remember forever. You must experience this place for yourself.
