When I began this trek, I believed that I was a man amongst boys with my athletic and mental prowess.
I did absolutely no training except running in video games and from girls in my dreams. I arrived in Cusco with my head held high and the thinner air in my lungs ready to tackle the small peak called Salkantay . But the cold hard reality hit me like a 500 pound llama. As soon as I stepped off the bus my body stopped obeying me.
It was all down hill or rather uphill from that moment. Two days later coming down Salkantay mountain cradled in the arms of of my guide I realized I should have trained for this.
