This isn’t glamping.

A friend invited me on this adventure. I’ll be honest: I did very little research, preparation or training. I had very few expectations, except the email said we would be woken each morning with tea in our tents. What wasn’t mentioned is that the tea would come between 3 and 5 in the morning. It also didn’t mention that I would climb more stairs than I would ever care to climb in my life, that I wouldn’t be anything approximating ‘clean’ for 3 solid days (and wouldn’t even care) and that it would push me to my emotional and physical limits. Fortunately, I also wasn’t prepared for the sheer beauty of the environment, the awe-inspiring Incan ruins and the feeling of accomplishment of making it to the end. This trip certainly wasn’t glamping. I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who isn’t up for a serious challenge. But it was an utterly amazing experience.
