Hiking the Inca Trail had been on my bucket list for years, and it lived up to all expectations.
The trail itself was way, way more difficult than we had expected - but that made it infinitely more rewarding.
Our guides Roger and Vladimir were a joy to travel with - passionate and hugely knowledgeable about inca culture and history. From them I learned loads about the facts of inca civilization, and more importantly, about inca thinking and spirituality.
Everyone talks about how heroic the inca trail porters are. It is true. Ttese men are absolute legends - carrying huge packs, including all our stuff, up and down monstrous trails. And then, when they arrive at camp, they set up all the tents and prepare amazing 3 course meals ready for us hikers who limp into camp hours later..
Its been an absolute privilege to hike the Inca Trail. Thank you.
