Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu August 22, 2011

One of my life time dreams has been to visit Machu Picchu. I researched all options and getting to Machu Picchu through the Salkantay trek was the option that captivated me the most. I contacted many agencies but I was completely impressed with assistance of the Salkantay trek agency represented by Maria Chacon. From the beginning, they helped me to configure a custom itinerary with all hotel and flight reservations, making the coordination of this trip a peasant experience. The staff in charge of the trek (guide (Joel) , cooks (Teofilo), porters) were amazing, full of great educational information about the area and the Inca history and civilization. Every day started with an early morning wake-up calls with coca tea served at my tent, followed by breakfast and a snack bag for the hike. I will never forget the stunning views of the mountains and landscape. At night the cooks will have a full course meal of Peruvian cuisine at its best. We even celebrated one my friend's birthday with a cake and a multilingual happy birthday song. I still don’t know how the cooks made all this happened. I made new friends during this trip and I will cherish these memories of this adventure forever.
