To begin with, the morning train to Aguas Calientes with see-through windows on the ceiling allowed us to enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way to Aguas Calientes. My daughter and I were a little worried about the weather but contrary to our expectations, a bit of rain and fog made the scenery going up to Machu Picchu absolutely gorgeous.
Also, our guide (Fletcher) was super kind and friendly, making the 5-6 hour walk much more enjoyable, thanks ! I definitely recommend doing at least some trekking, rather than taking the bus/train straight up to Machu Picchu. You'll definitely be missing out. When you do, dress warmly and bring a rain poncho !
