This was one of the greatest experiences of my life. It wasn't easy, but the beautiful scenery, old Inca ruins along the way and the nice food let you forget how difficult it is at some times.
It's a very special feeling to hike along this historic route to your destination: Machu Picchu, the grand final. We were lucky because we had our private guide, Ilesben, who knows a lot about the Inca history. The food and porters were great, they have a tough job and without them it is impossible to do the trek. The negative point is that we had to pay 40 dollars for 2 walking poles, while other people got a set of them for 14 dollars.
The breakfast at the first day (expensive and not included) is terrible. Toilets along the trek are horrible... So tip: buy a walking pole for a few soles along the way, take your own breakfast with you and enough toilet paper... And certainly do this trip!!
