Inca Trail: A First Time Hiker’s Thoughts

I must admit I was very worried and nervous before this trip. I've never been a hiker and have asthma... not the best combination for the Inca Trail . But this trip has been on my husband's bucket list for as long as he can remember so I couldn't not go.

Though the 3.5 days of hiking was absolutely the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, it was well worth it. The views and scenery were truly indescribable, and I would never have been able to see them if I hadn't done the hike. Though I was nervous, I always felt safe. The guides always made sure to check in with me that I felt comfortable, and I always had a guide behind me, watching my every step to make sure I was ok. Hilton, the guide, was incredibly patient, and I couldn't have completed the trail without his, and my husband's, words of encouragement.

In addition to all of this, we had a wonderful group of trekkers with us. Between the delicious food our cook made for us, the perfect weather, the camaraderie of the group and guides, and the amazing scenery, we could not have asked for a better trip. Thank you so much for everything !
