My overall experience hiking the Inca Trail was excellent! The views were spectacular all along the trail. The Andean Mountain range is incredibly diverse. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the five different microclimates encountered along the trail; we stopped to hear about each microclimate's fauna and flora.
The food along the hike was delicious. We started each meal with a delicious organic soup. The main course was always nourishing and provided sufficient fuel for the next day's hike. The equipment was good overall. The hiking poles were very helpful for the many downhill steps. The sleeping bags kept us warm enough at night. It was obvious the tents had been used before because they were a bit smelly.
It was a wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend it to others!
