The Inca Trail had to be our best part of our three month trip in South America. We started with a briefing where they already said that they were finishing rainy season, but that it is well possible that there will be some rain.
Because we're from Holland we are used to a little bit of rain. Well, eventually, there was a lot of rain!! Our first day wasn't even that bad and we had a few drops. But it began at the evening of the first day: rain, rain, a little bit of sunshine and some more rain.
The keywords our guide Victor was keep saying; just keep positive! Sometimes it was pretty hard because the tents leaked water so our matrasses and sleeping bags were all getting wet. Luckily our bags weren't. The second day and the third day it rained as well and the positive mind was almost gone.
Especially because our second and third day we stayed at a place way to early as the most of the group preferred. It made us climb down the stairs (of 3000 steps!) the last day instead of the third day. Even though it was hard, we kept positive thanks to our guides and all the porters.
The food was amazing! At the end of the story, all our positiveness paid off when we got at Machu Picchu. The sun was shining and everything was amazing!!. Our trip was great, especially thanks to our family !!!.
