Going into the four-day Inca Trail hike, I really didn't know what to expect since I hadn't done any research at all and was just going with my friends. A four-day hike sounded long, but I've gone on a bunch of hikes before so I figured it wouldn't be that hard…I was completely wrong. It was definitely the toughest hike I went through, since carrying your backpack plus sleeping bag plus sleeping mat plus water is a fuckin PAIN. But I couldn't be happier that it was tough. It made the hike all the more rewarding. I actually enjoyed the hike more than seeing the Machu Picchu site.
For the Inca Trail Reservations company itself, it is very well organized. The food was amazing, and the porters give better service than waiters in nice American restaurants. One of the things they did that was a pleasant surprise was serving hot tea in the morning when they wake us up. The only problem I had the entire trip was a broken zipper on the outside of the tent. Overall, had a great time.
