The four day Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu with Inca Trail Reservations is an exceptionally well-organized, but fairly challenging, four day hike through absolutely beautiful country.

The trail itself ranges from easy and flat to long, steep climbs at 14k feet elevation - certainly not easy, but rewarding both in sense of accomplishment and in sheer beauty. The guides know almost everything about the trail, history, and buildings on the route, and the porters / chef make life at and between camp much easier.

Arriving at Machu Picchu early in the morning via the Sun Gate is an amazing experience, and the sense of having earned every bit of it is palpable. If you want to see these amazing ruins, are interested in hiking, and are up for some discomfort to get the best experience of this part of Peru, do this.

You'll only regret it while you're doing it.
