Our long awaited adventure finally began at 4.30 am. A bus picked us up from our hostel to start an adventure of a lifetime. Day one was to prepare us for the challenging day two ahead. Carlos our guide showed us "his short cuts" up the mountain. Thankfully this only lasted for a few minutes and everyone was glad to see the easier path to our camp site. After lunch, that the amazing cooks prepared, we headed up another 350m to a breath taking lake. This was a true test for the second day's hike.

The next day after our early wake up call (with tea brought to our tents) we started on our hike to Salkantay pass. This was the toughest day by far, but worth the hours of climbing. Carlos then took the group to a stunning lagoon 15 min walk from the top of the pass. The way down was a relief for most as we made it to the lunch spot. Again the cooks had lunch prepared for our arrival. The scenery changed on day three to rainforest views. Spectacular. On day four we had the option of zip lining or exploring the town before driving to our lunch spot. After lunch the much awaited walk to Aguas Calientes began. Everyone split up to our own accommodation where showers where highly anticipated before meeting up again for our last dinner together before exploring Machu Picchu.
