Chat on WhatsAppWe booked the two day tour knowing it would involve some hiking. Seven miles seemed doable for me, an overweight but active 51 year old. But these are mountain miles, and the path is made mainly of irregular stone steps. There were times when I could barely make it, but our guide, Americo, was extremely helpful, kind and patient, even insisting on carrying my backpack when he himself was already burdened.
The trek was well worth it for not only amazing mountain and ruin views, but also constant encounters with exotic plants, flowers and butterflies. The next day's visit to Machu Picchu involved a minimum of stone paths, and Americo was a knowledgeable guide and fielded questions from our group of four. I recommend this trip wholeheartedly, if you are ready to be astounded.
