What an amazing experience! I chose Inca Trail Reservations based on the recommendation of a friend and overall I was happy with the service we received. The correspondence from the trip coordinators before the trek was helpful and the inclusion of transportation after the trek back to Cusco definitely reduced the work necessary on our end. The only hitch was that the ride that was supposed to take us from the train station back to Cusco (approx. 2 hour trip) at the end of the trek did not arrive.
Our tour guide during the trek was great! He was very knowledgeable and positive throughout the trip. The porters also provided consistently good service and the food was better than expected. (I didn´t take any medication and did not have any stomach problems.)
The hike itself was difficult but do-able and the landscapes were breathtaking. Our whole group agreed that we had a much better appreciation for Machu Picchu after 4 days of experiencing the Inca Trail.
Things to consider when packing:
1. Things to protect against the rain - We went in June which is technically the dry season but it rained everyday and once you or your things get wet it´s almost impossible to dry off.
2. Layers – we started with a desert landscape, hiked up to snowcapped mountains and then ended in the rainforest
