Chat on WhatsAppLet me just start by saying this adventure was extremely exhilarating. From the beginning of the trek up to the lake on the first day, one has to be ready for an exhausting hike but the award is well worth it. Day 2 starts out very early in the morning and the thought of a 22 kilometer hike up and over Salkantay at 4600 meters is just overwhelming. But the accomplishment of making it to the top is such an achievement!
I have been on many hikes and this is one of great for the books. The great thing about the hike is going from a highland landscape, over a mountain with glaciers back down to a subtropical and all in one day. Day 3 started and continued to be another amazing day but our goal for the day was to make it to the hot springs. Day 4 our guide recommended to go zip lining which I will also recommend. We continued our hike up to the city of Machu Picchu and upon arriving and seeing the first view of Machu Picchu on top of the mountain just makes the excitement of looking forward tomorrow is amazing. Day 5 awaits! Our guide, Carlos was very knowledgeable in the Inca culture and traditions.
