The trek was difficult and physically draining, but it feels so wonderful to be able to say I accomplished it. our guide was great, very encouraging and helpful. He was always giving high fives and telling us how great we were doing.
Our orientation helped us to prepare for the trek and I felt like I had a good understanding of what our journey would be like before it began. The food was delicious, we very much appreciated the horsemen and the cooks. The most enjoyable part of the trek for me was going through the rain forest area. The natural flora and fauna of this region is beautiful.
Our guide did a wonderful job of giving us a history of the land and Andean civilization. he was able to answer all our questions and left us with a better understanding of the Peruvian culture and geography. It was amazing to see the grassy hillsides one day, snowy glaciers the next, and rain forest too.
When we finally arrived to Machu Picchu, I was exhausted but it was so beautiful. The constructions and astronomical tools the ancient Andeans built there blew me out of the water. I was awestruck. Overall, I loved this trek and highly recommend it to others. I will remember my time in Peru for the rest of my life!
