Chat on WhatsAppWhen I first learned about Machu Picchu, I was in 3rd grade and it was just another magical place that my history book had brought to my attention. I really had no expectations, other than the normal sentiments a new place would bring. When the morning of my family's adventure came to be a reality, Juan Carlos met us at our hostel with the most welcoming and excited attitude. He immediately made us feel comfortable by joking around with us and easing any worried we had. Little did we know, we would be joined by two other guides, Marco and Hilton, who were just as friendly and all-around awesome as Juan Carlos.
We had a pretty diverse group, with a wide range of ages and athletic ability, but our three guides brought us together as one big family. On the first night, I ended up becoming ill and thought my journey was over. Once our guides found out, they immediately asked how I was doing and offered their own advice and natural medicine. I felt like although we had just met, they cared about my health as if they were family. (Honestly, these three were the best!) The next day, I felt amazing and could continue forward due to their caring attitudes.
During the whole adventure, it was honestly the greatest experience. I had so many laughs, ate the most amazing food (I need the recipes, please!), conquered and survived some hard trails, and built a new family. I have heard about my friends' adventures to Machu Picchu before, but I can tell you that this one exceeds all of them. Thank you for the wonderful memories and for introducing me to some incredible people!
