After travelling the world for the past five months, I decided to finish my adventure on a high (literally) the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu before heading home to London. I have a little bit of experience with hiking but this was my first time hiking at altitude and over a period of days rather than hours. Victor, our tour guide made the whole experience really enjoyable... He was supportive, made us feel like a family and was always positive - even when the going got tough. Most importantly though, he was honest and informative about the trek, providing a thorough plan for each day which made me feel confident and prepared for what to expect during each section of the trail.
I'm full of admiration for the incredible porters who made the trail look so easy whilst carrying so much weight on their backs, and certainly made me complain much less when parts of the hike were hard. The awesome food prepared by our chef was always something to look forward to - we ate like kings for the whole trek ! Arriving at Machu Picchu was an amazing moment and something I was grateful to share with my new trek 'family'. Massive thanks to Victor and the Inca Trail Reservations team and porters for making the end of my trip so memorable.
