The hike to Machu Picchu through Inca Trail Reservations was extremely rewarding. Although physically challenging, it was a great experience. The food was amazing, guides were nice, and the other people in the group were very friendly. The aches and pains that were endured during the hike, were immediately forgotten by the majesty of Machu Picchu!
On day 1 the hike was long, but not too difficult. It was a moderate trail with not too much steep uphills and downhills. We stopped for lunch for an hour at 11 and arrived at the campsite at around 4pm. It was a "warm up" day for day 2.
On day 2 the hike was very long with a seven hour climb uphill and a 2 hour hike downhill. It was extremely challenging, but very rewarding. On this day we reached the higher point of the trail which was 4600 meters above sea level. The views from this point were beautiful.
Day 3 was difficult as well, but mostly steep downhill. This day was complimented with beautiful views and majestic Incan ruins.
Day 4 was a short hike with Machu Picchu as the final destination All in all, the hike was a great experience and I would definitely do it again.
Thank you
