The Salkantay Trek is a great hike, all the days were different from the landscape, all well organized. For the first part up to the Sarkantay Paso was definitely the sportive part but with some weeks earlier on the Altiplano it was less demanding than I thought.
I especially enjoyed the second day from the top of the Salkantay Paso all the climate zones to the cloud forest and rain forest passing all the different climate zones. Day 3 and 4 were mostly flat enjoying the subtropical vegetation approaching Machu Picchu.
Special thanks to Juan Carlos, our guide, who was both very well in leading and motivating the group of 7 and in explaining the customs and believes of the Inkas and the vegetation we encountered.
Food was were good for a camping expedition, our 2 cooks surprised us every day with new Peruvian dishes prepared freshly on the small stove, it was always too much food. Looking forward to Machu Picchu tomorrow.
