Great Experience

I did the Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu and thought the trek was amazing. The first thing that stood out is how good the food was. I was expecting typical camping food. There were two chefs that would go ahead of the group, carrying not only all our backpacks but also all the food and kitchen supplies.

When we arrived at our camp spot we were greeted with hot drinks and amazing meals. I opted for the vegetarian option and never felt like I was being cheated with substandard food. Our guide, Freddy, was very informative about the trek and Inca culture and history. I got my own tent which was spacious and clean. I also rented a sleeping bag and it was warm and clean. The downside to the whole trip was night 3, where we stayed at a party campground that played loud music until 12 pm. The only other complaint I have is the hostal above the office. They offered me a small, unheated room, with a cold shower that came out at a trickle and did not drain. It was a discusting place to stay. Other than that, the trip went without a hitch. The tour of Machu Picchu was the perfect length of time. At two hours it gave the group a good overview and left us plenty of time to explore. I would give the trek and the booking agency an 8 out of 10. Thanks!
