We drove in a bus from Cusco to a village/place called Mollepata. We started the trek from there and walked up to a lake close to a high mountain to feel the altitude.
The altitude up there was 4100 meters above sea level. After that, we went down back where we started for a lunch. After the lunch, we started hiking up to our first camp, which was on the foot of the very high mountain Salkantay . Beautiful scenery! The altitude there was 4580 meters. We woke up in our tents with a temperature below zero. After drinking our coca tea, we started hiking up to the treks highest point, 4600 meters. Then we started our decent towards the jungle. The next nights we were camping and trekking in the jungle. Beautiful nature.
I fully recommend this adventure. Our guide, Marco was great.
