This trek is certainly not for the faint of heart... however, those who choose to attempt it are not disappointed. From start to finish, the Inca Trail was an amazing journey.
Our tour guide allowed us to travel a brief four days back in time to enjoy (and labor) a difficult and beautiful hike in the Andes just as the Incas did centuries ago. The changing landscapes, views, and vegetation provide for a awesome variety. The food provided at breakfast, lunch, and dinner were delicious. The meals blew my mind... and the food is carried along the trail with the rest of the camp goods.
To top it all off, our porters were phenomenal. The company provides porters to carry all the shared goods, and you have the option to provide yourself with extra if need be. Their work ethic is both unbelievable and refreshing. They will serve you your meal, pack up your camp site, and then pass you on the trail as you trek to your next destination. In the end you are able to spend the better part of a day at the amazing Machu Picchu.
I have no doubt anyone with a love of outdoors and history will thoroughly enjoy this trip and not regret it for a second.
