The 4 Day Inca Trail is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I would reccommend to everyone! The physical endurance and satisfaction you feel as you make it up the last 15 steps arriving at Dead Woman´s Pass is something that you will remember for the rest of your life. The constant mystical views are truly amazing and give you a great excuse to stop and catch your breath. Looking at the cliff faces where the Incas chose to build their temples and houses provided insight into their beliefs and culture. Raul, our guide, provided us with insight into the Inca culture as well as many jokes to keep our spirits high. I picked up a couple of important Spanish phrases while chatting during happy hour every night. There are no words to describe the food that is put on your plate for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was nutritious, Peruvian and oh so delicious! Exploring Machu Picchu on the last day and learning about the Incas past was overwhelming, however would not have been the same without the hike and experience getting there. The views, the people you meet, the culture, the information and exploring Machu Picchu culminates in an unforgettable experience.
