Hi, I would like to tell you about my Inca Trail experience. It all started in at the orientation in Cusco when I was introduced to the Inca Trail team who were going to look after us for the whole 4 day adventure. One of the tour guides called Carlos was very helpful and explained the Inca Trail day by day which I was about to embark on. I didn't have a sleeping bag so I rented one from the office. I left the orientation with great confidence that I was in good hands with the Inca Trail Reservations . I decided to get some food in a local restaurant before my early start the next day. After some amazing Peruvian food I ended back in my hostel where I was to be collected the next morning.
Morning came and I realized that I had left my sleeping bag in the restaurant! Silly me! However this was no problem as Carlos, our tour guide for the next 4 days managed to call around at 5:30am and fix me up with another sleeping bag, this was the start of a great adventure. Day one, we all set off early and had breakfast in a restaurant about 2 hours outside Cusco. It's here where I met the family! Carlos introduced me to the rest of the crew, the people I'd be spending the next few days with. The bus arrived to the starting point and we all got together to check our equipment. The locals were very helpful to make sure we had the right gear to carry our bags. We hiked for a few hours that day. We stopped along the way for much needed breaks to refuel and also to take in the knowledge from our tour guide. The lunch and dinner was amazing. Everyone went to bed happy and ready for day 2.
Carlos warned us that day 2 was going to be hard and it was but we as a family all stuck together and got through it, knowing that we had a great chef cooking the lunch and dinner upon our arrival. The porters were great too. They always had the tents and campsite ready for us when we arrived. We took many pictures along the way. I met so many great people, we are going to share our pictures which is awesome!
The 3rd day was a little easier. We had more great food and saw lots of Inca sites. Our tour guide Carlos was very helpful. Anytime we needed anything he was there to help. He even brought us to the best campsite in preparation for our last hike on day 4 to Macchu Picchu. Day 4 we woke up and were all excited to get to Macchu Picchu. We weren't let down either. It was amazing when we arrived. We had so much time to explore and take in the amazing surroundings. We all had lunch after it was finished and ended the trip as one big family. Thanks to Carlos and Inca Trail Reservations for making my dreams come true.
