Kilometer 82 made me think I was going to have to walk 82 kilometers over four days up hill and down dale, but luckily I was told that they measure the distance from cusco phew that meant roughly 45 is in total for the trip.
Should be a breeze I thought ! Not so. I don't know how many meters we climbed over the three days but next time I will bring my garmin edge because I'd really like to know!! It was a total blast go to wo. First day was not so hard and our guide Ronny Chambi Puma made us feel so good. He was helpful at every hill we came to encouraging and giving tips about safety apart from telling about all the Inca settlements or "tambas" along the way. The view were spectacular. Day 2 was the hardest with a very gruelling uphill climb to Dead Woman Pass followed by a long knee trembling descent. Along the way the views were just spectacular. Arriving at the Sun Gate to see Machu Picchu for the first time was totally incredible.
It is hard to describe the sheer beauty and power that the Inca city displays in ever way. It is deservingly one of the 7 wonders of the world. I highly recommend Inka Trail Reservqtion and Rony Chambi Puma.
